Dr. emma k. Rhodes: The Women's PROJECT
Purpose: "Against All Odds Scholarship" is in honor of Dr. Emma Kelly Rhodes who broke the barrier of a young black widowed woman with seven children to pursue and obtain numerous degrees and a Doctorate degree in Education. Dr. Rhodes forged ahead becoming a licensed ordained minister in the AME Church.
Dr. Rhodes is a living testament that regardless of what it looks like, you can achieve your goals, and raise productive children without a spouse.

(Who) Scholarship to Benefit: Single or widowed females with three (3) or more children in the age range of 2 years to 16 years that desire to further their desired choice.
Requirements: Recipient(s) started college and stopped with a desire to complete with a degree, or have never been to college. The recipient(s) must maintain grade point average of 3.0 to continue to receive the scholarship upon receiving a degree.
(What) Scholarship Amount: $1,500.00 is the starting goal. Awarded $500.00 to three (3) recipients for books or other itemized needs. The funds would be spear-handed by the Naomi Ministry and other ministries under the umbrella of PWF by donations from each auxiliary and raffle ticket, etc. A committee would be in a place to modify distribution of funds to only three (3) recipients or no more than five (5) recipients.
(When) Scholarship Amount: Recipients may apply for the Dr. Emma Kelly Rhodes: The Women's Project - Against All Odds Scholarship by completing and submitting an application with a 500 word essay entitled: "Against All Odds" starting January 1st through March 15th, with the scholarship being awarded by June 1st for college entry for college entry in August.
This scholarship is open to Second Baptist Church Members only and would also be establish at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Baid Knob, AR in Honor of Dr. Rhodes.
